Ty Lawson Returns; Denver Nuggets Defeat Detroit Pistons

I’ve been waiting for Ty Lawson to “come home” all season, and this may have been the one game in which he did so; he was aware for most — if not the entire game — not to mention, he was effective in every facet of the game. On a not when other starters had forgettable performances, it eas nice that one of them showed up against the dismal Detroit Pistons. Denver was able to come back from a 17-point deficit in the first quarter to take — what should have been a blowout — from the Pistons; 101-94. Read more »

The Detroit Pistons tabulated a paltry 25-41 record and showcased a team that isn’t entertaining to watch; the record is expected with a team that is rebuilding. This is much of the reason why the casual fan has no clue who Greg Monroe is, the Detroit Pistons are just….MEH. With that being said, what can Pistons fans expect out of the team in 2012-2013? The Bad Boys of Detroit

There was a novel published in 1967, entitled The Outsiders, in which myself and many other junior high-ers were mandated to read. The basic concept of the novel was that two rival groups of people, the Socs and the Greasers, were divided based on a socioeconomic status. Without delving into the synopsis, each group wanted something the other had and this made me think of an era in the NBA many of us are very aware of: the bad boys of Detroit. Specifically, the 1988-1989 Championship winning Detroit Pistons. The anti-hollywood team: the Detroit Pistons were very similar to the Greasers; misunderstood, pushed aside, slighted and perhaps undervalued, but in the end, they had the last laugh. Read more »
