The Brooklyn Nets revamped their image with a total makeover, but even that couldn’t help their abysmal record in December, so it only seemed obvious that Head Coach for the Brooklyn Nets, Avery Johnson, would lose his job.

Adrian Wojnarowski announced it first on twitter, shortly followed by the Nets official statement:

Avery Johnson has been fired as coach of the Nets, Billy King, the team’s general manager, announced in a statement released by the club today.

“The Nets ownership would like to express thanks to Avery for his efforts and to wish him every success in the future,” principal owner Mikhail Prokhorov said in the statement released by the club.

Johnson’s firing comes on the heels of the squad losing 10 of their past 13 games after having a red-hot start to the NBA season winning 11 of their first 15 games that garnered Johnson to be named Coach of the Month in November.

Johnson ended his tenure with the Nets on a 60-116 record.
