Report: Royce White Is Willing To Walk Away From The NBA

Over the past week the situation between Royce White and the Houston Rockets has reared its ugly head. White has a general anxiety disorder and feels slighted by the Houston Rockets and has issued a statement, along with, going to twitter to air his grievances. Then there’s Houston, claiming they have supported White, but have made it clear they are fining White for any and all team events he isn’t present for.

Now, via ESPN, Royce White is willing to walk away from the NBA as he meets with Daryl Morey on Monday.

Houston Rockets rookie Royce White says he is prepared to walk away from the NBA.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN’s Colleen Dominguez, White said he was going to meet with general manager Daryl Morey on Monday to discuss his situation with the team.

The Rockets have said they intend to fine White for every day he remains away from the team or does not attend sessions with a therapist arranged by the team. The Houston Chronicle has reported the Rockets have no plans to trade or release White.

This mess — and that’s exactly what it is — is horrible for all parties involved; Houston was aware of White’s condition and let’s be clear, outsiders aren’t sure what this stems from.

One thing is for sure, though, this would be a tremendous disappointment to see a skilled — and extremely courageous and honest player — to walk away from it all.

@bereal, what an idiot, you should be a poster child for why people should pursue higher education. You obviously did not make it past grade school. A concerned lawyer.
