Dirk Nowitzki: Flopping Fines Are “a bunch of crap”

We have heard from Mark Cuban and Blake Griffin about the new ‘flopping rule’ in which they aren’t the most supportive. Now, Dallas Mavericks star, Dirk Nowitzki, thinks it’s all a bunch of crap.

At least the monetary punishment via Dallas Morning News:

“I never looked at myself as a big flopper,’’ Nowitzki said Thursday after the Mavericks arrived in Germany for their preseason opener on Saturday. “If you play me physical then, obviously, I got to sell the call and get to the (free-throw) line. That’s just part of the game. We’ll have to see how they enforce that.

“I think it’s a bunch of crap to be honest with you. Are they going to come back after a game and fine you for flopping? That’s tough to do to me.’’

The point being here is that there isn’t a detailed layout of what flops are acceptable and which ones aren’t. Obviously, no-contact flops are easy to call, but what about the rest?

Then there’s the question on if they will announce the flopper’s names as well, as there have been some reports the league may not do this.

No question about it, Dirk isn’t happy about the new rule.
