Somehow, Father Time has caught up with the NBA’s Commissioner David Stern as an email was sent out to key NBA executives which detailed a retirement date — February 1, 2014 — and his replacement, as picked by the Board of Governors, will be Adam Silver via ESPN:
NBA commissioner David Stern will announce late Thursday that he is retiring on Feb. 1, 2014, multiple sources tell ESPN.com’s Marc Stein.
David Stern will step down as NBA commissioner on Feb. 1, 2014, league sources tell Y! Sports. Deputy Adam Silver will replace Stern.
Stern became the Commissioner of the league on February 1, 1984 and during his tenure revitalized a franchise and ushered it into the popularity it retains today.
