Just as many had expected — and predicted — Dwight Howard will miss the start of the Los Angeles Lakers training camp that is scheduled to start on Oct. 2 and the start of the preseason set to start Oct.7th via ESPN.

Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard will miss the start of training camp on Oct. 2 and the beginning of the preseason schedule starting Oct. 7 against the Golden State Warriors, the team announced Thursday. ESPN reported the day Howard was traded to the Lakers from the Magic that he would not be ready for the start of the season.

Howard began working with Lakers training staff this week in conjunction to his personal trainer. The Lakers camp hasn’t seemed overly concerned with Howard’s rehabilitation and it would even be assumed they are confident that he will be ready by the season opener.

With that being said, rushing an injury, let alone a back injury, is something that shouldn’t be rushed.

The most important thing is Howard’s health.
