In light of the AARP Knicks New York Knicks recent rumor mill possibly acquiring Sheed or K-Mart — and in the process getting considerably older — it’s nice to hear some sort of noise about Iman Shumpert’s possible return from his horrid ACL injury last season.

Via The New York Times:

All signs Saturday suggested that Shumpert’s rehabilitation this off-season has gone well. He will still miss the start of the regular season, but it appears Shumpert could possibly return in December if his recovery is ahead of schedule.

Last week, Shumpert said he hoped to play in December, but that he doesn’t want to come back too early from his injury.

Sure, a December return would be helpful for the Knicks considering it would give Shumpert ample time to get back in NBA season form, but considering this is only his second-year, there’s no reason to rush.

A notable item from the above snippet is the fact he acknowledges that he doesn’t want to rush, despite his desire to be back with his team in December.

I think a mid-January return date is a more acceptable and attainable goal.

It’s not about the short-term for Shumpert, but the long-term.
