Flopping was a prevalent problem last season in the NBA, where players like Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, James Harden, Blake Griffin would use exaggerated theatrics to draw fouls.
The NBA looks to crackdown on the acting portion of the game as it was revealed that their will be video review postgame if it feels like flopping had occurred during the game via Ken Berger:
“The procedures will likely involve a postgame review as opposed to calling it as an in-game infraction,” the league spokesman said in a statement to CBSSports.com and other outlets.
I think this new ‘rule” is a phenomenal step in the right direction, as there were multiple games last season where the flopping was atrocious. Will it curtail all of the flopping? Probably not, nonetheless it does let the players know that if they feel a flop has been committed they will be subject to a fine.
That sound you just heard was Manu Ginobili’s heart sinking.
