Anthony Davis was the top pick of the 2012 NBA draft and he’s already has had a stellar start to his career before even starting in his first NBA game. Yes, I’m talking about his play in the 2012 London Summer Games as he has a gold medal, not bad for a rook.
While, it seems like a no-brainer that Davis should become the ROY, it’s always fun to see what other rookies have to say as there was a survey at NBA.Com
Rookie of the Year: Davis, 47.1% of vote; Damian Lillard, Portland, 17.6%.
Projected to have best career: Davis, 40.6%; Harrison Barnes, Golden State, 12.5%.
Most overlooked rookie: Draymond Green, Golden State; Perry Jones, Oklahoma City, Andrew Nicholson, Orlando and Tony Wroten, Memphis, 8.8%.
Most athletic: Quincy Acy, Toronto, Perry Jones, Oklahoma City, 17.6%.
Best shooter: John Jenkins, Atlanta, 48.6%; Bradley Beal, Washington, 16.2%.
Best defender: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Charlotte, 28.6%; Davis, 14.3%.
Best playmaker: Kendall Marshall, Phoenix, 45.7%; Lillard, Portland, 14.3%.
Funniest: Fab Melo, Boston, 22.9%; Kyle O’Quinn, Orlando, 20.0%.
Favorite NBA player: LeBron James 31%; Kobe Bryant 18.1%, Kevin Durant 10%
Schuhmann noted that four New York Knicks received votes, which means J.R. Smith is some rook’s favorite player. #KoldGame
