Another Denver Nuggets and Andre Iguodala post…..

There was Lin-Sanity last season that swept New York and the NBA world by a fierce storm, but now — from my bird eye view of the Mile High — there’s a fever sweeping the basketball heads of Denver and Colorado.

We all are high on AI9.

He doesn’t like the name Iggy — it’s true — perhaps AI9 will catch on, but like Thing 1 and Thing 2, we have Andre 1 and Andre 2, but who cares about the his moniker because…..

WE HAVE ANDRE IGUODALA!!!

Sure he isn’t Carmelo Anthony (he actually defends — OH, SNAPS) LeBron James, or even Kevin Durant, but he’s a significant upgrade over what Denver had previously. He many not be a player to which a team would build around — the reason Orlando didn’t want him — but in the right system he can become one of the top players.

He’s an All-Star, an Olympian, and suddenly Denver, Colorado is smoking a nicely wrapped blunt filled with the defensive-minded, athletic, slashing, play-making AI9.

I’ve been smoking my AI9 blunt since the rumors started last week and I’m cautious by nature, thus I ultimately believed this deal would be one that would crumble apart and leave me picking up the remnants of my soul off of the tiled floor.

But lucky for me that didn’t happen, I mean, the trade took place and I’ve been gleefully dancing like the Wicked Witch jumping on top of Glenda.

Wait. That’s not a good analogy.

It’s more like I’ve been gleefully dancing like Dwight Howard once he realized he didn’t have to spit that “I’m loyal to Orlando” shit anymore.

Is that better?

Anyways, Andre Iguodala had his presser in Denver on Thursday and even the mental lapsed Denver radio guys seem to be high on AI9 as “WE” all tuned into it waiting for the newest and perhaps the most popular — a Denver t.v. poll showed 64% believe he’s Denver’s best player — Nugget.

After all, Andre Iguodala was saying all of the right things, so why wouldn’t Denver be high on AI9.

“We aren’t coming in to this thinking this is just a one-year deal, Iguodala said. “We are looking to the future and definitely looking ahead, looking to see how we can go forward so this isn’t a quick stop for me.”

Believe it or not, even the once golden of all golden Denver Nuggets, Carmelo Anthony, said positive things to AI9 about head coach George Karl and the system in Denver:

“Carmelo actually spoke about coach (George) Karl before the trade,” Iguodala said. “We were just in the weight room talking basketball and I asked him about what Denver was like. He said I would be the perfect fit for coach Karl – like he and I would really gel together.”

I have long been one of those Negative Nadine’s when it comes to silly ordinary fans in Denver claiming that the Nuggets are contenders  — hard to be contenders when OKC and LAL OWN the Western Conference — but even AI9 had me with this quote:

“My focus is to help our team, not only to go out there and to play to the best of our abilities but to believe that we are going to put ourselves in contention to be at the top of the West, no matter what anybody else says,” Iguodala said. “We are going to go out there and play for one thing, and that is a championship.”

I can feel my heart pitter patter ever so quickly and then I realize, I have fallen deeply and madly in love with Andre Iguodala…..

He had me at hello….he had me at hello.
