Can the Dwight Howard talks get any more theatrical? Right when we heard rumors that the Magic wanted to deal Howard by August, there’s this report by Chris Broussard that the team may not deal Dwight at all or when a “great” opportunity presents itself.
The Orlando Magic have told rival executives that they might not trade Dwight Howard after all, according to league sources.
An executive who has had discussions with the Magic regarding Howard said Orlando only will trade the star center in a deal that is great for the franchise. The executive said this has been Orlando’s stance for the past “week or so.”
Another executive who has talked with Orlando said he thinks the Magic may start the season with Howard and wait until the February trade deadline to move him.
The Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers have been the two teams who have desired Howard and whose names are the most mentioned in trade talks. One of the latest rumors that involved the Lakers also included a third team and would send Andrew Bynum to the Cavs.
The ball is in Orlando’s court as they have until next season’s trade deadline to deal Howard — and this seems like a feasible option – if this isn’t possible he will become a free agent next season.
Can’t blame the Magic for their waffling as they want the best deal for them.

Smart move I think. Even if they don’t end up trading him & he becomes free agent they either sign him(unlikely) or free up about $20m cap space
