Carmelo Anthony’s trainer: “he’s not a fat ass”

Outside of the usual Melo criticisms, Melo’s huskiness is always an issue that’s on the table. He’s always been a bit chubby and last season entered the condensed schedule horribly out of shape. It was something Mike Woodson has touched on in the past and he’s garnering more scrutiny for becoming the spokesperson for chocolate milk.

However, Idan Ravin comes to Melo’s rescue and declares he’s not a chunky in the least via ESPN:

Many of Melo’s toughest critics say that he’s not diligent and plays overweight, but Ravin downplayed that notion entirely. He said they’re missing something.

“You forget that under his jersey, he wears a lot of that compression-type stuff, and he wears a lot of that protection-type sleeves around his stomach, so it makes him look a little bit wider and thicker,” he said. “But he’s not a fat ass, man. He’s a world-class athlete, so he’s always very detailed with his diet, with his conditioning. Remember, too, the season’s long and it wears on you. Sometimes that’s where the fatigue sets in.”

So the 12 pounds he lost was just 12 pounds of “compression-type stuff” …..

So was that Raymond Felton’s problem as well?

Just pounds and pounds of padding? What about their chipmunk faces? Is their compression-type stuff in their mouth?
