We all remember those infamous Dwyane Wade hot pink pants he wore, and we all have heard about the stylist behind them, Calyann Barnett. Barnett was lucky enough to meet Stephen A. Smith after the Miami Heat defeated the Boston Celtics Saturday night to advcance to the 2012 NBA Finals.
This is all according to her tumbler in which once Smith found out she was the brain child behind Wade’s fashion, he let her know his real feelings about those infamous pink pants.
So as Stephen Smith- sorry I forgot the A- went on about Dwyane’s pink pants; how he is 30 years old; the father of 2 boys and should not wear such things, I listened and pretended to be interested out of respect…..
I was doing oh so well until HE went there… He touched his hand and said “We are BLACK, we can’t do that”…
Yes, Stephen A. Smith went there. He pulled the “we are black” card because, apparently, he has a hatred for the color pink on men. I don’t believe Stephen A. Smith received the memo in which he doesn’t have a say in what color of race is to wear what. If Dwyane Wade wants to wear hot pink, vivid violet, cherry red or lime green, he can do that and you know why? It’s because he is a free thinking adult.
Sorry, Mr. Smith, wardrobe isn”t limited to one’s skin color.
I find Calyann Barnett quite charming in her message to Mr. Smith and I believe this says it all:
We are BLACK, we can do WHATEVER and I repeat WHATEVER WE WANT!!!
