The NBA may be basketball, a beloved sport to many, but it’s also a culture; granted many of these players once were from the wrong side of the tracks and associated with “gang bangers” so this picture shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone:

James Harden threw up a gang signs after another pivotal three-pointer, and while it’s not something I or plenty of NBA enthusiasts focus on, rapper Slim Thug made it painfully aware he was unhappy about as these are just a few of the tweets he sent out.

At the end of the day, James Harden will be remembered for his basketball skills and not for throwing up a gang sign or too.
Perhaps, Slim Thug could ask Harden for some hoop pointers.

It doesn’t matter if you “put in work” or not when you live in LA. If you live in the neighborhood you are expected to join the neighborhood family (or gang) when you turn 12 or 13. It doesn’t matter whether you approve or dis-approve of what gangs do. In LA, you can’t be by yourself. You will get beat down everyday. Many people tried to avoid gangs in LA, but when you constantly get beat down by the gangs, eventually you will join up. That’s how most gang bangers become gang members. They were beat down until they gave in. That’s how sh*t is in LA.
