Apparently, there was this HOT 80′s guitarist named, Mark Durante, who played for Public Enemy, The Aliens and The Revolting Cocks and used the name “Durantula” during his performances and — YUP, you guessed it — is suing Kevin Durant for stealing his nickname.
The suit was filed Wednesday, while Kevin Durant is on the cusp of elimination with the OKC Thunder by the way of the Miami Heat has this comical lawsuit to deal with. Mr. Durante claims Durant and his people are using the “Durantula” nickname while his people say negatory.
TMZ obtained a copy of the lawsuit, in which Durante says he adopted the name “Durantula” for his “on-stage and performance persona” — and has used it to market “music, recordings, apparel, t-shirts, guitars, and related merchandise.”
In the suit though, Durante claims Nike has used the moniker to launch a shoe campaign — and he claims KD himself signed “Durantula” on basketballs that are for sale through his website.
The guitarist claims he registered the “Durantula” trademark. He’s suing for damages and an injunction stopping KD from using the name.
In the meantime, Kevin Durant is focused less on this lawsuit and more on forcing a Game 6.
