Chauncey Billups: “I can’t see me, basketball-wise, playing in Denver again”

If you are a regular reader of mine or a twitter follower you should know how close I hold Chauncey Billups to my heart as does the city of Denver. Chauncey is as much a part of the Denver landscape as the Rocky Mountains, the MMJ dispensaries and the Denver Nuggets. Chauncey feels the love for Denver as well but when the Denver Nuggets front office included him in the trade that sent Carmelo Anthony to New York, he had been burned for the last time.

Fool me once, shame on you

Fool me twice, shame on me

It shouldn’t come to a surprise to Nuggets fans that Chauncey Billups has no desire to play in a Nuggets uni any time in the forseeable future.

“I’ll say this: Me and (team president) Josh (Kroenke) are cool,” Billups said. “I’m good with everybody. But I can’t see me, basketball-wise, playing in Denver again. What do you want me to do? They traded me two times. Want me to give them a third opportunity? My years there were great. We accomplished some great things. And they are looking good. … I had some great years there, and I’m always going to live there, but I can’t see that.”
It’s really a no-brainer, and I do understand how Nuggets fans just want Mr. Big Shot back in NuggetLand. However, both parties have moved on. Hometown boy, Billups, has been traded twice and doesn’t want to be future trade bait again and the Denver organization has propelled itself forward with the young guns in Ty Lawson, Kenneth Faried and Danilo Gallinari.

It’s too bad the Nuggets traded him. I would love to have Mr. Big Shot still! Chauncey Billups will always be an all time favorite Denver Nugget of mine!
