Darren Rovell reports in one single day the Brooklyn Nets sold more team gear than the New Jersey Nets sold during the entire 2011-2012 NBA season.

On April 30, 2012, the day in which New Jersey officially became the Brooklyn Nets, the merchandise sales exceeded Nets sales for the whole season. Even more interesting, in two days the amount of Brooklyn gear sold was TEN times more than what the Nets sold in a standard year.

Amazing.

Fans are voting yes for the return of major professional sports to Brooklyn, for brand Brooklyn and for JAY Z’s black and white brand identity. Fans see the Brooklyn Nets as being cool and different, just like Brooklyn is. We’re very pleased with our sales numbers, and to this point none of it is player related.” -  Brooklyn Nets CEO Brett Yormark.

Although the Nets won an abysmal 22 games this season, fans in Brooklyn seem ecstatic over the Nets.
