After lacerating his hand by punching a fire extinguisher encased in glass, Amar’e Stoudemire may be able to play in Game 4 of the first-round Eastern Conference Knicks-Heat matchup.
ESPN has more:
Stoudemire is out of Thursday’s Game 3 after a surgeon repaired a muscle in the hand Tuesday. The Knicks are calling him doubtful for Game 4, but Stoudemire says he’s “not totally sure yet.”
After Monday night’s Heat-Knicks game, Amar’e grew frustrated at hit the fire extinguisher thinking it was encased in plastic not in glass.
“It was nothing like that. I just walked by, wanted to make some noise, swung my arm, hit the fire extinguisher door and didn’t even realize i was cut at all until Josh Harrellson told me I was cut.”
It seems Amar’e will use this as a growing experience and hitting a fire extinguisher is never a smart move.
“but it happens all the time. Some players kick over ice coolers. Some players tip over tables. Some players even hit a chair. My thing was to hit the wall, I caught the fire extinguisher and I sliced my hand. Bad timing in the middle of playoffs … (we’re) trying to win every game. But I’ll be back soon.”
