Yesterday, Carmelo’s approval for Mike Woodson getting the head coaching gig hit the blogosphere like a freight train. Then, the rumor of the week, perhaps even the month, hit the intrawebs: if the Knicks have another round one exit, the franchise may make a push — in a huge way — for legendary coach Phil Jackson.
Via the Journal Times:
If the New York Knicks don’t advance beyond the first round of the playoffs, I’m hearing they’ll make a major — repeat, major — push to lure legendary coach Phil Jackson out of retirement.
With money being no object, the scuttlebutt is the Knicks brass may offer the “Zen Master” a four-year, $50 million deal.
Since Mike D’Antoni vacated as the head coach, Phil Jackson’s name has been thrown around — in heavy rotation — as a possible replacement.
As for the Knicks, they are 7th seeded and look to face the Miami Heat in the first round, so perhaps a first-round exit is in their future.
