Rubio’s knee buckled with 16.4 seconds left in the Timberwolves’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers Friday night in Minneapolis. He came across to trap Kobe Bryant and crumbled to the floor as Bryant collided into him while trying to dribble. Rubio immediately grabbed his knee and remained on the floor for a few moments until teammates carried him to the bench.
This makes many of my fellow NBA fans, bloggers, junkies filled with grief and more than that, this is a herculean blow to the Timberwolves. A team, in which, were coming together rather nicely with Ricky Rubio as the facilitator who has amazing peripheral vision when he was on the court. This is a team that has struggled since Kevin Garnett fled to Boston and finally this year with Rubio, K-Love and Derrick Williams, the pieces were coming together.
Tomorrow will be a telling day.
My heart just aches for the Spaniard.
