Heckling is part of the wonderful world of professional sports, it’s something fans live for. On court trash talking is something players do to their opponents, it’s something visiting teams expect when playing; to hear the taunts, jeers, boos, the incessant beratement…… It’s all part of the game.
However, when an NBA player’s OWN team’s owner does it; well that’s heckling on a whole different level.
Enter Baron Davis and Donald Sterling.
Baron Davis tells Steve Serby about the incessant heckling:
And the other lowest point is when I played for the Clippers. … I just stopped liking basketball. And then you dribbling down the court and having the owner like cuss at you and call you an idiot. I didn’t even look forward to coming to the games, and if the owner [Donald Sterling] came to the game, I definitely was not gonna have a good game because it was just like, how do you play when the main heckler in the gym is the owner of the team, and he’s telling you how much he hates you and calling out your name?
Now, that’s some shit!
I am sure Baron Davis is glad to be far away as possible from the douchiest owner in the NBA.
