It doesn’t come as a big surprise that the two big contenders for J.R. Smith’s services have been the L.A. Clippers, whom can only offer him the veteran minimum, or the New York Knicks.
Chris Paul seems to think his best chances are with the clippers and told that very thing to ESPN yesterday:
“I think the chances are very high,” -CP3
“My relationship with J.R., Kenyon’s relationship with him and Chauncey’s relationship with him (help). Also he knows he’ll have the opportunity to play here. He can only make us better.” – CP3
While the New York Knicks can offer a prorated share of the $2.5 million MLE, but could another team be on the horizon for the former Denver Nuggets’ swingman??
